ABOUT

Cozell (b. 1999) is a self taught painter and creative designer, a first generation Cameroonian-American, and the founder of the Youth Always Wins Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth through creativity, access, and opportunity. Originally from Virginia, he currently resides between Washington, D.C. and New York City. His artwork is a visual symphony of out of the box concepts and inspirations that captivate the eye.

Blending elements of abstract and pop art, Cozell’s personal style engages viewers through thought provoking nuances, leaving room for individual interpretation and imagination. During his time at Virginia Commonwealth University, Cozell continued developing his creative voice, using experimentation and curiosity to pave his own path in the arts. To him, art isn’t confined to one medium it’s a complete expression present in everything.

He draws inspiration from the world around him, including creative visionaries such as the late Virgil Abloh, Kanye West, Karim Rashid, Tyler, The Creator, Russell Westbrook, and Pharrell Williams, aspiring to one day join their ranks as a trailblazer in the industry.

"There's this thought that constantly runs through my mind, I'm always questioning the origins of these social norms that we're expected to follow. It's important to me that people understand it's okay to break free from them. When I create, I focus on pushing boundaries and shifting perspectives, urging my peers to explore their own interpretations. Every piece I make is deeply rooted in personal experiences, thoughts, and feelings, or simply in a sense of freedom I want to share."
